The Ruger Vaquero line is built around traditional western-style handling, with a hand-filling grip profile, a beveled cylinder and a crescent-shaped ejector rod head.

A reverse indexing pawl helps make loading and unloading easier, while the transfer bar mechanism and loading gate interlock support safer handling.
