Deerford Defense was built on a name with roots deeper than business. Deerford is not just a place on a map. It is a piece of Louisiana history, shaped by hard work, independence, faith, family, and country life.

The name Deerford dates back to the mid-1800s, when pioneer settler Thomas Carpenter gave the area its name after a natural ford where deer crossed Sanders’ Bayou. The land was once open woods, cane breaks, bayou crossings, rough roads, farms, cabins, churches, schools, and families building a community from the ground up.

That spirit of self-reliance is what Deerford Defense was founded to carry forward.

Rooted in Local History

Early Deerford was a rural settlement where people made do with what they had. Families lived in hand-built cabins. Roads were first cut wide enough for oxen and carts. Farms were worked with simple tools, many made by hand or in nearby shops. The community grew slowly, but it grew with purpose.

Church services were once held under the trees. The first schools were held in humble buildings, including a donated cotton house used as a classroom. Over time, Deerford became known as a community that valued education, faith, work, and the strength of country life.

That history matters to us because it reflects the same values we believe still matter today: personal responsibility, preparedness, independence, and the right to protect what belongs to you.
