SIG Sauer M18 Pistols

The SIG M18 is the carry-size military P320. It is the shorter MHS P320: the same coyote military 9mm in a 3.9 in. carry slide. The M18 uses the shorter slide, not the full-size M17. A factory ROMEO-M17 is installed only when this page says so. These pistols ship to a licensed FFL.

These are commercial SIG Sauer pistols in the M18 layout. They follow the coyote carry-size pattern SIG publishes for the P320-M18 and commercial M18, including SIGLITE night sights and an M1913 rail. A commercial listing is not a government-issued sidearm.

M18 vs M17

The useful difference is slide and barrel length. The SIG Sauer M17 uses a 4.7 in. barrel and a 6.6 in. sight radius on a full-size slide. The M18 uses a 3.9 in. barrel and a 5.8 in. sight radius on a carry-size slide. SIG lists commercial M17 and M18 pistols with carry-length coyote grip modules, so grip length is not the dividing line.

Choose the M18 for the shorter slide. Choose the M17 when you want the longer barrel and sight radius.

P320-M18 and Commercial M18 Slides

Two factory families share the M18 name, and the optic cut is the difference that matters.

The P320-M18, model 320CA-9-M18-MS, uses SIG’s PRO footprint. SIG lists that slide as directly compatible with the ROMEO1PRO. The California P320-M18 page also lists ROMEO-X, ROMEO2, DeltaPoint PRO, and ROMEO-X PRO among compatible PRO-pattern sights. It is not the ROMEO-M17 MHS cut.

The later commercial M18, model M18-9-CSS-MS, uses the M17/M18 MHS slide with a single-screw rear plate. SIG lists that cut for DeltaPoint Pro and ROMEO-M17. A P320-M18 PRO slide and an MHS M18 slide are not the same optic platform.

None of those standard M18 pistols include a factory-mounted red dot. The removable night sight rear plate stays on the slide until a compatible sight is added separately.

The M18X keeps the 3.9 in. coyote M18 slide and adds X-Series equipment: a factory ROMEO-M17, an X-Carry grip module with magwell, an X flat trigger, and three 21-round magazines.
