SIG P220 Pistols

The SIG P220 is the pistol that started SIG’s modern era: a full-size single-stack .45, DA/SA on most of these guns, with an alloy frame, a stainless slide, and a 4.4 in. barrel. The 10mm Legion stretches that to 5 in. and a stainless frame that SIG lists at 44 oz. Elite adds SRT and, on the optic-ready gun, a Deltapoint/RMR-pattern cut. Legion adds Legion Gray, XRAY3, the Grayguns P-SAIT trigger, G10 with the Legion medallion, and a PRO optic footprint.

These are single-stack P220s, not P226s and not P320s. Magazines are .45 or 10mm, not P226 9mm. A factory red dot is not installed. Handguns ship to a licensed FFL. See also SIG P226 and SIG pistols.

How to choose

Classic DA/SA .45 with an optic cut is the Elite optic-ready. California iron-sight P220 is the CA Nitron gun, with two 8-round magazines. Legion DA/SA, Legion SAO, Legion 10mm, and Legion MA are the gray guns with G10 and a PRO cut. The non-optic Elite is the simpler slide on the same 4.4 in. .45 formula.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a SIG P220?

The SIG P220 is SIG’s original full-size single-stack service pistol. Most of these are .45 ACP with a 4.4 in. barrel and a DA/SA trigger. The Legion 10mm uses a 5 in. barrel and a stainless frame.

What optic footprint does a P220 use?

Elite optic-ready uses a Deltapoint/RMR-pattern cut. Legion optic-ready uses the PRO footprint. They are not the same. A factory red dot is not installed.

What magazines does a P220 use?

Single-stack P220 magazines. These .45 and 10mm pistols ship with 8-round steel magazines. They are not P226 9mm magazines. 10mm guns use 10mm magazines, not .45 magazines.

What is the difference between P220 Elite and P220 Legion?

Elite is the Nitron P220 with SRT, an E2 grip, and, on the optic-ready gun, a Deltapoint/RMR-pattern cut. Legion adds Legion Gray, XRAY3, G10 with the Legion medallion, the P-SAIT trigger, and a PRO optic footprint, with three magazines.

What is the difference between P220 Legion DA/SA and SAO?

DA/SA uses a decocker and the P-SAIT trigger. SAO uses a flat single-action trigger and a manual safety. Both Legion .45s here are optic-ready on the PRO footprint.

Is the P220 CA optic-ready?

No. The California Nitron P220 is an iron-sight gun with SIGLITE night sights. It ships with two 8-round magazines.

Does a P220 ship to my door?

No. Handguns ship to a licensed FFL for transfer.
