Trijicon MRO Sights: SD, HD, and Patrol

Browse Trijicon MRO SD and MRO HD sights, including Patrol models and packages with a separate 3x magnifier. The MRO name stands for Miniature Rifle Optic. Both the SD and HD are 1x sights with 25 mm objective lenses, but their reticles, finish options, and included accessories differ.

Start with the reticle you prefer, then compare the mount and package contents. The SD or HD designation identifies the reticle system, while Patrol and magnifier packages add accessories. The MRO family name alone does not identify everything in the box.

MRO SD or MRO HD?

Trijicon MRO SD sights have a single 2 MOA dot in either red or green. Each sight has one reticle color, not a red-to-green switching mode. Standard SD models are available with black or Coyote Brown housings. Housing color and dot color are separate choices.

Trijicon MRO HD sights use a red 2 MOA center dot with an optional 68 MOA segmented circle. The HD can display the dot alone or the combined circle-and-dot pattern. It is not a higher-magnification version of the SD; both sights remain 1x optics.

The SD also differs from the original MRO generation. Its revised objective lens and coatings are designed for use with a magnifier, while its mounting footprint remains the same as the original MRO. The SD and HD names therefore describe optical and reticle differences, not simply different finishes or mounts.

Compare Mounts and Finishes

The package determines whether a mount is included and which sight height it provides. No-mount versions require a compatible base purchased separately. Low, full co-witness, and lower 1/3 co-witness mounts provide different sight heights; Q-LOC identifies a quick-release mount design.

For a different housing finish, the Coyote Brown MRO SD with a green dot and full co-witness mount combines a brown optic with a black base. The HD models in this collection have black housings. Mount compatibility and package contents should be checked for the exact model, regardless of finish.

What the Patrol Package Adds

Patrol versions add front and rear lens covers and an anti-reflection device. They retain the reticle of their respective family: a single red dot for the MRO SD Patrol, or the selectable red circle-and-dot reticle for the MRO HD Patrol. Patrol does not mean that a magnifier is automatically included.

The MRO SD Patrol with a full co-witness Q-LOC mount, model MRO-C-2200355, includes the AC32070 quick-release base. The MRO SD Patrol without a mount, model MRO-C-2200353, includes the lens accessories but no mounting base.

Sights with a Separate 3x Magnifier

The MRO SD magnifier combo, model MRO-C-2200367, includes an AC32070 full co-witness Q-LOC sight mount. The MRO HD magnifier combo, model MRO-C-2200057, includes an AC32068 full co-witness fixed sight mount. Both packages include a separate 3x magnifier with its own quick-release, flip-to-side mount.

The MRO SD Patrol magnifier combo, model MRO-C-2200368, combines the red single-dot sight, Patrol lens accessories, an AC32070 Q-LOC sight mount, and the separately mounted magnifier. These packages contain two optics, not a variable-power riflescope. Standalone sights do not include a magnifier; separate options are listed in the Trijicon magnifier collection.

What is the difference between MRO SD and MRO HD?

The SD has a single 2 MOA dot, with separate red and green versions. The HD has a red 2 MOA dot and a selectable 68 MOA segmented circle. Both sights have 1x magnification and a 25 mm objective.

Is the MRO SD just the original MRO with a new name?

Does every Patrol model come with a quick-release mount?

No. Patrol describes the added lens covers and anti-reflection device, but no-mount Patrol models are also offered. The exact package determines whether a mounting base is included.

Does full co-witness mean a magnifier is included?

No. Full co-witness describes mount height. A magnifier is included only when the package specifically lists one, whether the sight mount is fixed or quick-release.

Can an MRO SD switch between red and green?

No. Red and green are separate SD variants. A Coyote Brown or black housing does not determine the dot color.

What battery do MRO SD and MRO HD sights use?

Both use a CR2032 battery for LED illumination. Runtime ratings differ by model, reticle color, and reticle mode, so a battery-life figure for one version should not be assumed to apply to another.

Does the magnifier change an SD into an HD?

No. The magnifier adds a 3x view but does not change the sight’s reticle. An SD retains its single dot; it does not gain the HD circle-and-dot pattern.
