Separate Rings or a One-Piece Mount?

Separate rings let the spacing follow the usable scope tube and available base positions. The Q-LOC ring range includes low, medium, high, and extra-high options for 30 mm, 34 mm, and 35 mm tubes. The conventional aluminum rings are a different family, with their own height designations and attachment format. Compare the model’s measured height rather than treating labels such as High or Extra High as universal dimensions.

A one-piece mount connects both rings on a common base. Bolt-action-style mounts have a compact layout, while cantilever mounts offset the rings forward relative to the rail attachment. The shape changes where the scope can sit, so choose around the scope’s tube length and required position as well as the rifle’s stock and rail geometry.

Q-LOC, Static, and Colt Knob Designs

Q-LOC mounts and rings use spring-loaded rail attachment for a quick-release connection to compatible Picatinny rails. Static Slimline mounts use flush mounting bolts and provide a compact side profile without Q-LOC knobs. The Colt Knob models are another distinct option with a thumbscrew-style attachment; the 20 MOA AC22037 also offers four ring-position choices along its base.

Accessory ring caps are separate components, not complete mounts. The AC22078 fits corresponding 30 mm Trijicon Q-LOC and Slimline scope mounts, and the AC22079 serves the corresponding 34 mm mounts. Each cap provides top and 45-degree attachment positions for compatible accessory plates. The plate, rail, or optic must be selected separately, and the cap is not a universal replacement for other ring brands.

Height, Clearance, and Cant

For the Q-LOC and static mounts described here, optical-axis height is measured from the top of the rail to the centerline of the scope. It is not the gap beneath the scope tube. Objective lens size is only a guide: the outside housing, lens covers, rail, and firearm geometry also affect clearance. A scope with the correct tube diameter can still be incompatible with a particular mount.

Cant is a separate measurement. A 20 MOA mount has an angled base; it is not simply a taller version of a 0 MOA mount. For example, the 35 mm AC22076 and AC22077 both have a 1.70-inch optical-axis height, but only the AC22077 has 20 MOA of cant. Match the base angle to the requirements of the complete scope and rail combination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are 1-inch, 30 mm, 34 mm, and 35 mm rings interchangeable?

No. The ring bore must match the scope’s main-tube diameter. A 1-inch tube is 25.4 mm, not 30 mm, and the 34 mm and 35 mm sizes are also distinct. Matching the objective lens diameter instead of the main tube will not identify the correct rings.

What heights do the Q-LOC ring sets provide?

The low sets have a 1.0-inch optical-axis height, medium sets have a 1.1-inch height, high sets have a 1.3-inch height, and extra-high sets have a 1.4-inch height. Trijicon also uses Tall and Extra Tall for the latter two options. These measurements describe the Q-LOC ring sets, not every Trijicon mount with a similar height label.

Does a larger objective lens always require the highest rings?

No. Required height depends on the complete objective housing, any covers, and the geometry of the rifle and rail. Trijicon’s objective lens limits are useful model-specific guides, but they do not replace a clearance check. More height also changes the scope’s position relative to the stock.

Will every 34 mm scope fit a 34 mm bolt-action mount?

No. Tube length and the shape of the scope can prevent a fit even when the diameter matches. In particular, Trijicon states that the AC22042 Q-LOC bolt-action mount is not compatible with Credo or Credo HX 1-8×28 riflescopes. Those scopes require an appropriate 34 mm cantilever mount.

Do accessory ring caps include a red-dot mount or an optic?

No. The AC22078 and AC22079 packages contain one accessory cap, four screws, and a hex key. A compatible accessory mounting plate, rail, or optic is separate. Match the cap to the correct Trijicon mount family and tube size, then match the plate to the accessory.

Is a 20 MOA mount the same as a high mount?

No. MOA describes the angle built into the mount, while height describes the scope’s position above the rail. Two mounts can share the same tube size and nominal height but have different cant. Treat diameter, height, and cant as separate specifications when comparing models.
