Trijicon ACOG Scopes

Trijicon ACOG scopes combine fixed magnification with illuminated reticles in compact, forged-aluminum housings. The family spans low-power Compact ACOG models, the familiar 4×32 format, 3.5×35 scopes and larger 5.5×50 and 6×48 options. Reticle pattern, illumination system and included mount are just as important as magnification when choosing a configuration.

Choose an ACOG Optical Format

The 3.5×35 TA11 and LED TA110 offer approximately 2.4 inches of eye relief. They are worth comparing with the Trijicon ACOG 4×32 scopes, whose 1.5-inch eye relief and wider field of view give them a different optical layout. The TA11E 3.5×35 is a red-chevron .308/7.62 configuration with a TA51 mount.

For lower magnification and a smaller scope body, explore the Compact ACOG collection, including 1.5x, 2x and 3x optical formats. The 5.5×50 TA55 and 6×48 TA648 move in the other direction, offering more magnification with larger housings and narrower fields of view. ACOG magnification is fixed; these scopes do not have a variable-power zoom ring.

Battery-Free or LED Illumination

Dual-illuminated ACOG models use fiber optics to collect ambient light and tritium to illuminate the reticle in low light. They do not need a battery. The TA11, TA55 and TA648 configurations use this system. The TA01 4×32 is different again: its low-light illumination is tritium-only, without a fiber-optic collector.

The TA110 3.5×35 and TA02 4×32 use an AA-powered LED system with six selectable brightness levels and off positions between settings. This gives you direct control over brightness. An ACOG package that also includes an RMR or RCR contains two separate sights; the secondary sight’s power source and reticle should be considered separately from those of the magnified scope.

Reticle Shape, Color and Calibration

A chevron has an angular center, a crosshair uses intersecting lines, and a horseshoe-and-dot pattern combines a rounded outline with a central point. The original TA11 donut reticle uses an open-center ring. Red, green and amber options are model-specific, and the illuminated part of the reticle is not always the entire pattern. For example, the TA648-308H has a red dot inside a black horseshoe.

Choose the calibration along with the reticle shape. A .223/5.56 crosshair is not the same reticle as a .308/7.62 crosshair, and the .300 Blackout version has its own reference layout. The TA11MGO-M249 and the TA648MGO-M240 use platform-specific reticles and packages, rather than standard rifle reticles with a different model name.

Mounts and Included Accessories

Many TA11, TA110 and TA55 configurations include the TA51 flattop thumbscrew mount. The original red-donut TA11 instead has a carry-handle base, while the TA648 models here specify the TA75 mount. Compact ACOG packages may use Q-LOC mounts. Check the exact model’s included mount rather than assuming every ACOG package is the same.

Accessories also vary. The TA11MGO-M249 package includes an anti-reflection device and protective flip caps. Other configurations may have mounting provisions for an optional secondary optic, but mounting bosses or a top rail do not mean a reflex sight is included. Dedicated ACOG-and-reflex-sight packages identify both optics in their descriptions.

Trijicon ACOG FAQs

Do all Trijicon ACOG scopes need batteries?

No. Fiber-optic/tritium models and tritium-only models are battery-free. The TA110 and TA02 use an AA battery for LED illumination. A bundled secondary sight may have its own battery even when the ACOG itself does not.

What is the difference between the TA11 and TA110?

Both have fixed 3.5x magnification and a 35 mm objective. The TA11 uses fiber-optic/tritium illumination, while the TA110 uses an AA-powered LED with manually selected brightness. Reticle pattern, color and calibration still vary within each family.

Are all horseshoe reticles illuminated in the same way?

No. The illuminated elements depend on the model. The TA648-308H, for example, has a red illuminated dot inside a black horseshoe. Compare the exact reticle diagram as well as the color listed in the product name.

Does every ACOG include a flattop mount?

No. Mount packages vary. The original TA11 red-donut model has a carry-handle base, many full-size models include a TA51, and the TA648 configurations here specify a TA75. Compact packages and combination packages can use other mounts.

Is an RMR or RCR included with every ACOG?

No. A separate reflex sight is included only when the specific package lists it. Mounting bosses or a top accessory rail are provisions for compatible accessories, not a second optic.
